Knowing your risk of diabetes early on will help you make the proper changes in your lifestyle in order to prevent developing the condition.
- No, you cannot catch diabetes, it is not a contagious disease. However, gestational diabetes is common to some first-time moms. It goes away after childbirth, but it’s important that you are regularly tested as a safety control measure.
- Diabetes does not discriminate on age, however, if you are over 40 years of age and overweight/ obese, you are more likely to develop diabetes and if you are especially bigger around your belly than any other part of your body because this means there is added pressure on your body’s ability to use insulin in order to control your blood sugar levels to burn energy.
