The smartest people I know go straight to the comparison and review sites when they decide to buy something expensive, like an alkaline water machine. To me, that’s an excellent idea, however you should beware that most of the water ionizer review sites that you will come to are actually just giving the opinion of the site-owner. Naturally, people are entitled to their opinions, of course, but rather than giving credibility to “awards” [which are generally made-up and can be handed out randomly by pretty much anyone] I believe that real, hands-on testing and analysis of the various features of each water ionizer to be much more helpful and reliable.

Another thing you may or may not notice about my chart is that, while I do make reference to the number of plates and number of watts in the various water alkalizers, I don’t always call the water ionizer with the most plates or highest watts the best. That’s because I’ve noticed when testing the different water ionizers that it did not add up to better results in many cases. Bigger and more is not always better when it comes to water alkalizers. Of course I will report when it is better, but really I have tested and tested and the bigger is better theory, with regard to water ionizers, just doesn’t add up.

There are several top water ionizers that have only 5 plates. How is this possible? It is an engineering feat that water alkalizers can even do what they do. They split the water, ionize it, transform it, all very quickly as you hold your glass under the water ionizer’s spout. The engineers who design the plates, also design the water cell [the structure that holds the plates, controls the flow, cleans the plates, distributes the electricity, etc.] All of these things, working together is what makes or breaks the ability of a water alkalizer to alkalize and ionize the water. It is not just one thing, such as number of plates. There is one thing that normally is true about 7, 9, and now 11-plate water ionizers that makes them top water ionizers, is that they can ionize the water faster [usually]. Faster ionization is another feature that a consumer may or may not want. I actually like my water ionizer to ionize at about a 1.5 quart/min. flow-rate. The reason I like this, rather than a 3-quart/min flow-rate is that the filtration will be far better at the slower flow-rate.

In many cases I’ve found a five-plate water ionizer getting better results than a 7-plate one. I have found through years of comparison testing that it is a whole design, the water cell, filtration, internal cleaning, and flow-rate all working together to get results. I can assure you that all water ionizers on the above chart [except where noted], and certainly all that we sell, have gotten good results and will do a good job ionizing your water for you.
